Upon arrival at Paro International Airport, be captivated by the magnificent views of the Himalayas, including the Paro valley, Paro Dzong, and Ta Dzong (National Museum). Your tour executive will meet you at the arrival lounge with a CONVIVIAL TRIPS signboard and transfer you to Thimphu, Bhutan's dynamic capital, where old-world charm blends with modernity. After checking in at your hotel, the rest of the day is yours to unwind and relax, allowing you to adjust to the tranquil atmosphere of this beautiful country.
Begin the day with a visit to Tashichho Dzong, the grand fortress and seat of Bhutan’s government. Next, explore the local post office to view Bhutanese stamps and postcards. In the afternoon, hike to Tango Monastery, located at the head of the valley, starting from Dodena. Along the way, stop at Pangri Zampa, home to a respected astrologer. At the monastery, visit the holy caves, where the 7th reincarnate of the 4th Desi, Gyalse Tenzin Rabgye, resides. Afterward, enjoy tea and snacks by the scenic Cheri Zam (Cheri Bridge) before returning to the hotel for leisure time.
After an early breakfast, embark on a scenic drive to Punakha, stopping at Dochu La Pass, located at 3,140 meters. This beautiful mountain pass is adorned with fluttering prayer flags and 108 miniature chortens, offering awe-inspiring views of the surrounding Himalayan peaks on clear days. Upon arrival in Punakha, check in at the hotel, then visit Simtokha Dzong and Punakha Dzong. The Punakha Dzong, nestled between the Phochu and Mochu rivers, serves as the winter residence of Bhutan’s Je-Khenpo, the religious leader of Bhutan, and is a significant cultural and historical landmark.
After breakfast, check out and travel to Paro. Upon arrival, check in at the hotel and later visit Drugyel Dzong. The highlight of the day is the hike to Taktsang Goemba, also known as the ‘Tiger’s Nest’. According to legend, Guru Rinpoche flew here on the back of a tigress, meditated in a cave for three months, and brought Buddhism to the Paro valley. Located 900 meters above the valley, the hike offers stunning views and is an unforgettable experience. Afterward, visit Ta-Dzong (National Museum), once a watchtower for Paro Dzong, offering a commanding view of the valley.
After breakfast, check out from the hotel. The tour concludes with wonderful memories, followed by a direct transfer to Paro International Airport for your onward journey.
